CHAPTER NEWS
The Halifax Chapter held a special event in May to mark the 50
th
anniversary of the fmi
*
igf with a very animated presentation by
Bruce Manion. This former federal CFO, and now the Federal
Public Servant in residence at Dalhousie University’s School of
Public Administration, led us through the twisted logic and fun
rants that are the staple of his regular column in the FMI Journal
“From Behind the Green Eyeshade.”
Continuing with the 50th anniversary theme, presentations
were made to Kathryn Burlton and Fred Donaldson recognizing
their service, both to the local and National levels of the FMI. The
AGM which followed welcomed the Chapter’s new executive:
President – Fred Donaldson
Past President – Stu Jamieson
Secretary – Angela Porter
Treasurer – Wendy Doggett
Director Social Media – Mike Haley
Director Federal – Monica Moriarty
Director FI Community – Janice Reid
Director Provincial – Wayne Barry
Director Provincial – Alexandra Chaddock
Director and Website – Philip Green
2014 will mark the 25th Anniversary of the Halifax Chapter,
and the Chapter is planning a session to honour Past Presidents.
It is also important to recognize those agencies and departments
who have been supportive of their employees attending sessions.
Federal government members have been under increasing
pressure to justify the rational for attending PD sessions.
Therefore it is up to fmi
*
igf to support them with valuable and
cost effective training and learning events that are both recognized
and supported by employers. Equally important are those with
accounting designations who are encouraged to participate in the
administration of the Halifax Chapter.
The Chapter’s Autumn line-up includes Kevin Lindsey, speaking
on “DND in a Fiscally Constrained Environment;” LarryMunroe,
Auditor General for Halifax Regional Municipality; and, Senator
Jane Cordy.
