. Professional branding is essential to
developing an online presence, developing trust and building
influence, showcasing talent, and drawing attention to its
social media sites.
The second presenter was Dr. Anatoliy Gruzd, Associate
Professor, School of Information Management, and
Director of the Social Media Lab at Dalhousie University.
His presentation
“Trends, Tricks and Threats of Being Social”
focussed on the benefits, and the dark side, associated with
the speed and possible accuracy of media events. The effect
of disinformation and photo sharing were addressed along
with the many benefits such as: increased attention to your
website; improved reputation; discovering resources and
expertise; instant feedback; building new connections; and
support to on-line communities.
The Halifax Chapter was very fortunate to have the
technical expertise of Mike Haley to bring these two speakers
together on this increasingly prominent topic.
On March 6th, the Halifax Chapter
had the pleasure of hosting two
presentations on Social Media.
