with an event on October 30, 2013, titled
2013 Government
of Canada Financial Management Update
. The speaker was
Sharon Smith from the Office of the Comptroller General.
This presentation gave everyone timely information on
numerous federal central agency initiatives affecting the
financial community. This was followed by the Chapter
AGM, where the incoming Board of Directors was elected.
The full list of Board members is listed on the FMI website.
The kickoff event was followed by a session on
December 5, 2013, which featured 2 diverse speakers. The
first was BC’s Auditor General for Local Government, Basia
Ruta, who spoke about
Achieving Value for Money
. The second
presenter was Mark Bernard, who gave a presentation on
Risk Management
.
On February 26, 2014, the Vancouver Chapter presented
a highly successful, full day Leadership Development
Workshop. The morning event allowed participants to
delve into their leadership style through a personalized
assessment provided to them, as well as insight on working
with those with different styles. The session was highly
interactive and provided some excellent takeaways for
all involved. The afternoon session featured high energy
motivational speaker Lydia Johnson who presented the
topic
Thinking About Thinking
. After an inspiring afternoon
session, all participants walked away with copies of Lydia’s
latest book titled,
“The Jalapeno Handshake, Strategies to
Heat Up Your Business Relationships.”
A great way to wrap
up a great day!
